Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando has been released on bail by the Colombo High Court on charges of failing to prevent a series of terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday.
This was after considering a petition filed by Mr. Hemasiri Fernando requesting that he be released on bail.
When the case was taken up before High Court Judge Manjula Tillekeratne today, Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the Attorney General informed the court that there was no objection to the suspect being released on bail.
The High Court Judge ordered the suspect to be released on two sureties of Rs. 250,000 and two sureties of Rs. 2.5 million.
The High Court judge ordered the suspect to go abroad without the permission of the court.
The High Court judge also conditioned on the witnesses to report and report to the Director of the CID on the last Sunday of every month.
High Court Judge Manjula Tilakaratne has directed that a copy of the order be forwarded to the Registrar of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
