Karannagoda asked to appear before President Commission of Inquiry Probing acts of political victimization

Former Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda has been informed to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the acts of political victimization on the Monday (Feb. 10) at 3.00 pm.

This summons was issued to record a statement from the former naval chief with regard to a complaint received by the Commission.

The Presidential Commission to probe incidents of political victimization that took place between 8th January 2015 and 16th November 2019 was set up by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the 10th of last month.

The Commission comprises of retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne, retired Court of Appeal Judge Daya Chandrasiri Jayatilake and retired IGP Chandra Fernando.

In the meantime, Commander R.P.S. Ranasinghe and Lieutenant Commander M.H.P.C. Hettiarachchi have also been issued summons to appear before the Commission the same day at 1.00 pm.
