Two veterans of the radio industry have passed away.
At the age of 74, TV announcer Nadarajah Shivam is passed away at a private hospital in Colombo last night. He was best known for his contributions to television’s Golden Age. He has also acted in teledramas and films. He contributed to Akrarsha and Selvam films.
He also recently worked as a consultant to the Asian media network Sooriyan FM. The funeral will take place in today (25) afternoon.
Mervyn Senaratne, a well-known writer, radio playwriter and songwriter, has also passed away in 92 years old. He wrote popular radio dramas such as Sugandhika, Veediya Bandara and Dolelanda.
Among the songs he composed were popular, such as ‘Asela Mahe’, ” maha re yame ”, ” Akke tikak Innako ”, ” Pembahadhavatha parawa ” etc. Mervyn is one of the most essential creatives in the creation of Vesak pandals. He has also worked as a translator and newspaper editor. The funeral will take place today (25) at Kottawa.
