Sri Lankan athlete Yupun Abeykoon sets a new Sri Lanka National and South Asian record at an international tournament in Dessau, Germany (08th Sept).

Italy based Sri Lankan sprinter sets the record for Men’s 100m with a record (10.16) seconds run. Previous 100m National & South Asia record was set by Himasha Eashan with 10.22 seconds run.

Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Namal Rajapaka tweeted a congratulatory message for the record-breaking sprinter.

යුපුන් අබේකෝන් ජර්මනියේ පැවති අන්තර් ජාතික මළල ක්‍රීඩා තරගයකදී පිරිමි මීටර් 100 ඉසව්ව(තත්පර 10.16)කින් නිමා කරමින් නව ශ්‍රී ලංකා හා දකුණු ආසියා වාර්තාව පිහිටුවීමේ පුවත අසා මා අතිශයින් සතුටට පත්වු අතර මෙම විශිෂ්ට ජයග්‍රහණය ලාංකික හැමෝටම ආඩම්බර විය හැකි අවස්ථාවක්. 🇱🇰👏
