Former Finance and Justice Minister, Mohamed Ali Sabry has refused the request of President to re-take the Finance Ministry.
It is reported that former Finance Minister Ali Sabri has rejected a request made by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to resume his duties as the Minister of Finance.
It is reported that Ali Sabri has rejected the President’s request saying that he had taken this decision due to pressure from his family members.
The President made this request at a meeting of the People’s Front Parliamentarians chaired by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Colombo yesterday (14th).
After the resignation of Basil Rajapaksa, Ali Sabri was appointed Minister of Finance and resigned less than 24 hours later.
However, due to the President’s refusal to accept the resignation, the Cabinet was dissolved following the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on the 9th and the post of Finance Minister was also abolished.
